Beechwood Park, located in Pasadena MD, was a nonsegregated amusement park and beach from the 1940's until the mid-1960's. During those segregated times, it was one of the only places where Black families could come to swim in the waters of the Magothy River and listen to famous musicians, like James Brown, Chubby Checker, and The Four Tops. There was a merry-go-round, a ferris wheel, and other rides. Boatloads and bus loads of Black people came to the park on the weekends. The park closed in the mid-1960's and is now an Anne Arundel County park. In this documentary, 4 local residents recall their memories of the park in its heyday and its impact on their lives.
